Hey, it's Rachel— So, I'm working with a client to help her market her business. She's seen success in the past, but lately, her sales have been going down 📉, and the way she marketed her business in the past isn't working as well as it used to. We've brainstormed ideas and come up with some pretty good ones. She quickly implemented one of the ideas, but between you and me, what she created wasn't her best work. I responded and shared with her some strategies she can leverage to improve her work. Then, this morning, she emailed me a long list of why the new strategies won't work. I've dealt with a lot of clients like her. 🫠Quite frankly, I think we all have a piece of that type of person in us. It's the type of person who searches for solutions, asks for help, hastily tests new ideas, and then gives up and blames everyone and everything outside their control for their problems. They live like a victim. 💩 But there IS another way. It starts with having a growth mindset and a commitment to learning. A foundational belief that you may not have the answer today, but you're willing to stick with it and keep learning. 🤓 It includes having a positive attitude and a sense of humor. A willingness to make mistakes and fail, but get up, laugh them off, and keep moving towards your goal. 🤩 It also requires the humility to take feedback and the willingness to give it your all, even when the results are guaranteed. 😇 Business and life can be uncomfortable at times. But we can all choose to either learn from our trials and tribulations or let them defeat us. If you're ever feeling down about your situation, ask yourself if you want to be a victim or a victor, and then act accordingly. But always remember, you have a choice. 🤯 In today's email:

This Week's Email is Sponsored By:QuoteDon't Forget to Adjust Your SailsSomething NewAdvice CornerQ: Hey Rachel, quick question. How can I overcome my fear of closing a sale? 😳 A: Fun fact about me: I was a middle-school drama nerd. 🤓🤫🤠We used to perform 5-minute skits as part of a drama festival competition. Do you know how long we prepared for those 5-minute skits? Months! We started by reading the scripts alone, then with the other actors. Then, we memorized the lines. Then, we acted it out and got input from our teacher. Over and over and over again. Until it felt like we could do it in our sleep. 😴 Why do I share this with you? If I were asked to do a 5-minute skit with little or no preparation, I would have been a scared, sweaty mess! 😅 Probably similar to how you feel when you try to close a sale. Here's the thing: A lot of fear comes from being unprepared and in an unfamiliar situation. So, to eliminate (or at the very least, reduce) that fear of selling you need to be prepared and make the situation familiar. How? You can start by literally scripting it out. Worried you won't know what to say? Script it out! (Hack alert: use AI to help you create a stellar script) Worried there will be a question you won't know how to answer? Write out that question and script a great way to answer it. Do this for all the "scary" questions and "what if" scenarios in your head. Then, read and reread the script. Ask someone to role-play the situation with you. Get their input, feedback, and advice. Continue to practice until you have your script memorized and you start to feel more comfortable and confident. Then, when it feels like you can do it in your sleep, you won't be afraid anymore. Hey, it's Rachel— I've always been fascinated with people's dreams of winning the lottery and becoming rich. Did you know: The odds of winning the lottery are one in 300 million. 50% of Americans buy lottery tickets each year. 78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. The average American has a 3% chance of becoming a millionaire. What is equally fascinating to me is that so many people leave such a big dream up to chance. Why not just make it happen? While building wealth can be complex,...
Hey, it's Rachel— Do you have a love hate relationship with your phone? You know, sometimes you think it's the best thing ever and it makes your life easier? But sometimes it gets in the way, makes you feel overwhelmed and overstimulated? If this sounds like you, you're not alone. Did you know Gartner (a major research and consulting firm) predicts that by 2025, 50% of people will have either abandoned social media or decreased their usage substantially? And searches for "dumb phones" and app...
Hey, it's Rachel— I was reading You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb this week, and a specific quote cracked me up and reminded me of an important lesson we all should remember: "If the queen had balls, she'd be the king." This saying is essentially a blunt way of saying that thinking about what could be if things were different is futile. From a psychological perspective, this phrase highlights our human tendency to imagine alternate realities or what might have been if things were...
