🤯How To Save Money: 75+ Legit Ways to Save That Will Save You a Fortune🤯

Hey, it's Rachel—

My husband and I are enjoying our 10-year anniversary this week.

We decided to take this time to discuss our dreams and visions for the next 10 years of our relationship.

This may sound weird, but going to business school taught me the importance of having a clear vision and goals for a business, and I've learned to apply that same kind of planning to my life.

I highly recommend taking some time to reflect on what you want in your life.

Here are some great questions to reflect on:

  1. What does a fulfilled life look like to you?
Imagine a day in your ideal life. What are you doing? Who are you with?
  2. What are your passions and interests?
What activities make you lose track of time?
  3. What legacy do you want to leave behind?
How do you want to be remembered by family, friends, and your community?
  4. What are your professional aspirations?
Where do you see yourself in your career 5, 10, or 20 years from now?
  5. What personal qualities do you want to develop?
What aspects of your personality or skills do you wish to improve?
  6. What are the major goals you want to achieve in the next 5 to 10 years?
How do these goals align with your overall life vision?
  7. What kind of relationships do you want to cultivate?
How important are family, friendships, and professional networks to you? How will you cultivate them?
  8. What does balance look like in your life?
How can you manage different aspects of your life (work, family, personal interests) harmoniously?
  9. How do you want to grow spiritually or emotionally?
What practices or habits can help you achieve this growth?

If you're willing to share any of your answers, I'd love to hear them! Hit reply and let me know :)

Q: I don't love my job, but I need it to support my family. I have a business idea that I want to start and feel passionate about, but I'm not sure when/if it would replace my full-time income. What should I do?

A: This is a great question. Honestly, most people deal with a similar issue, whether it's with their job, their relationship status, their financial situation, or some other aspect of their life that isn't ideal.

"The grass is always greener on the other side," as they say.

As discussed at the beginning of this email, setting goals and a vision for your life is vitally important.

Why?

Once you have a vision for what you want to create, then you can work backward to figure out how to achieve that vision.

Usually, there are 3 major resources that you need to achieve any vision:

  • Time
  • Skills
  • Capital (both financial capital and human capital)

So, if money is the issue, then ask yourself how much money you need to replace your income for the amount of time you need to start your business.

You may also ask yourself how much money you need for start-up costs.

Once you have a number, then you can work to save and/or invest money until you hit that goal number.

It's quite simple, but that doesn't mean it's easy.

From there, you'll need to focus on shifting your habits to spend less and (if possible) make more.

Again, simple but not always easy.

But having a strong vision can help you make tradeoffs.

You can ask yourself, "Do I want this <insert shiny new impulse buy here> OR do I want to save money to save money to quit my job and start my business?"

The more you choose decisions that align with your vision, the closer you will be to achieving it.

Also, side note: if you don't love your job but not having full-time employment is not an option right now, I'd recommend looking for a new job that aligns with your passions and interests.

Having a job isn't bad; you just need to find something that lights you up and/or offers you more flexibility (if that's your goal). It also helps if your job helps you develop the skills you need to succeed in your future or current business. ❤️❤️❤️

Hey, it's Rachel— I've always been fascinated with people's dreams of winning the lottery and becoming rich. Did you know: The odds of winning the lottery are one in 300 million. 50% of Americans buy lottery tickets each year. 78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. The average American has a 3% chance of becoming a millionaire. What is equally fascinating to me is that so many people leave such a big dream up to chance. Why not just make it happen? While building wealth can be complex,...

Hey, it's Rachel— Do you have a love hate relationship with your phone? You know, sometimes you think it's the best thing ever and it makes your life easier? But sometimes it gets in the way, makes you feel overwhelmed and overstimulated? If this sounds like you, you're not alone. Did you know Gartner (a major research and consulting firm) predicts that by 2025, 50% of people will have either abandoned social media or decreased their usage substantially? And searches for "dumb phones" and app...

Hey, it's Rachel— I was reading You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb this week, and a specific quote cracked me up and reminded me of an important lesson we all should remember: "If the queen had balls, she'd be the king." This saying is essentially a blunt way of saying that thinking about what could be if things were different is futile. From a psychological perspective, this phrase highlights our human tendency to imagine alternate realities or what might have been if things were...
